TopoGraft 2.0: Anti-platelet surfaces for bypass grafts and artificial hearts

Medical devices such as artificial vascular grafts, total artificial hearts (TAH) and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have an unacceptable rate of graft loss, stroke and device failure due to unwanted platelet adhesion and thrombosis. The grant will be used to develop an improved artificial polymer vascular graft that would suppress platelet adhesion in a wider variety of situations, maintaining graft patency (blood flow) for years instead of months.
